Mental Health and the Brain Symposium: Recap

Dear Website Readers,

The Foundation for Human Potential has just completed a remarkable symposium, Mental Health and the Brain: Implications for Lifelong Learning, sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company, Pfizer Inc. and wonderful individual donors committed to our mission of facilitating the appreciation of individual differences for all.

Please join us in participating in the goal to raise funds to enable The Foundation for Human Potential to present educational programs designed for the public, to encourage society to focus on the appreciation of individual differences, rather than labeling to mark deficits!

The symposium accomplished this purpose by highlighting the activities of individuals who have risen above the challenges of mental illness to be productive members of society. Having reached extraordinary potential and, thereby, motivated to share their experiences with others, we heard from individuals with bipolar disorder, epilepsy and autism, stories which will bring hope to many others.

We are sharing these messages as we work on a documentary of the program, creating its CD/DVD for distribution to the public and adding program information to our website. Our follow up activities will include: individual symposia devoted to the areas of bipolar disorder, autism, epilepsy and others. In this way, we are expanding our mission, which began with education and brain function, to include mental health and brain function.

We greatly appreciate your participation with us. In advance, thank you for considering a contribution to The Foundation for Human Potential*. Happy holidays!
